Bewick’s Swan Excursion in the Emsland
On 11 January it’s that time again: we’ll be travelling to visit the Bewick’s swans in the Emsland!
PROGRAMME
- Bus trip to feeding grounds, on-site observation with the aid of spotting scopes
- Lecture during the trip: General information about the Bewick’s swan, distinguishing between Whooper swans and Bewick’s swans, insights into the ‘Bewick’s Swan Project’ and much more
- Continue to the night roost, observe the arrival (including hot drink)
- Departure expected at around 5:30 p.m., arrival in Meppen depending on travel time: The route and destination will be determined at short notice based on the current situation.

Bewick’s Swan Days in the Eider-Treene-Sorge Region
Together with KUNO e.V. and the Integrated Station, we are once again offering the popular Bewick’s Swan Days in the Eider-Treene-Sorge (ETS) region this year.

Strictly protected Bewick’s Swans from NABU project shot
Two Bewick’s swans from a NABU project, which had recently been staying in a nature reserve, were found dead with gunshot wounds. Hunting this strictly protected species is prohibited throughout the EU.
